Gryphon High-throughput Crystallization : Getting Started

Updated: Sep 23, 2022

First-time users, please contact Mr. Sadik Shataer (sadik@udel.edu) in the Parashar laboratory.

Section 1: Powering the Machine

Turn the robot ON by switching the main power switches and the individual switches on the pumps.

Section 2: Setting the Pump

1. Place all four tubes in the pump and lower the levers as shown in the picture.

2. Keep pressing the knobs (No. 1 in the picture above) on both pumps to purge the pumps until a steady flow of liquid comes out of the outlet tubes in the sink.

Section 3: System Connection

1. Once the robot is connected to the system, the robot stage would move right. Make sure that there is no obstruction for the robot stage to move.

2. Open the Gryphon software and click connect. Wait until the robot finishes water wash.

Section 3: Cleaning the robot before use.

1. Put 50 mM NaOH solution in position as shown on the left. Put 3 small tubes of NaOH in the positions shown in the right image.

2. Click on the Open protocol tab on the gryphon software. Select End of the day wash with NaOH. Run the protocol.
